Erasure (2022 Remaster)
Re: Erasure (2022 Remaster)
Worth noting:
The details of the Erasure 2022 re-release DO NOT say that the album is remastered. It is only described as an "expanded" release and I doubt this was an oversight. It would be mentioned certainly, if it were remastered. As far as I know, this will be the first of Erasure's album re-releases (starting with The Innocents 2009) that won't be remastered.
Erasure, the album, was supposedly mastered perfectly the first time anyways. I'm curious a) if the new CD will be the exact same as the original 1995 CD and b) whether remastered or not, why did they make that decision? Maybe Vince wanted it left alone?
I guess we will see once we have the 2022 CDs in our hands.

That is probably basically it. It doesn't need to be digitally remastered because it was already digitally mastered in the first place. They've perhaps finally caught up with a time when 'modern' processing was already being applied.mrblue wrote: Sat Sep 24, 2022 2:12 pm As far as I know, this will be the first of Erasure's album re-releases (starting with Wonderland and Circus) that won't be remastered.

I've said before that I thought 'Erasure' could be the LAST of the digitally remastered albums, on the basis that I thought 'Cowboy' was maybe the first to be digitally mastered from the outset (it's only a couple of years later when they began the firs remaster project with the EBX sets). But maybe it was even earlier with the 'Erasure' album.
So from here on it might be we're just getting a repackage of the albums with a disc or two of bonuses (and hopefully video sometimes!). When the cut-off for doing THAT is I don't know! Maybe when they've finally caught up with last unreleased concert on DVD? Which could be Cowboy/Tiny Tour?
Anyway, these are just my guesses.

The mix is also available on Apple Music, the album says it is a 2022 remaster, but that could be incorrect information.....
