That just about sums up being an Erasure fan! Maybe next time!

OMD have released 2 concert DVDs with Live Here Now in the last few years, both available right now on Lexer, but for Erasure we get a "next time." Erasure still have upcoming shows that could be filmed, but they won't. What am I missing here??
Possibly budget restraints.

Isn't that the reason given for Tomorrows World tour not being recorded? you really have to ask why are they not setting aside budget for Erasure? there's obviously demand. I feel like we've (I've) been moaning about it now for knocking on 10 years. The closest we've got to a recorded concert since 2007 is that Yahoo stream from Violet Flame (which saw no official release! not even on CD) or the Roskilde festival from World be Gone. Neither are official and have to be sourced in Nefarious ways meanwhile Bands with smilier popularity like PSB, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode are knocking out Bluray's for thier fans.

It's obviously not on Erasure or Richard as I imagine they're just as deflated by it as we are but Mute have really let Erasure and the fans down in the last ten years. Erasure are hands down one of the greatest live bands ever and there is no reason not to set aside budget for them. And lets not forget the record labels also cocked up the Cowboy and Other tour recordings too.

In some ways Mute has ben a disaster foe Erasure (no live DVDs, then back catalogue sold to BMG, no videos for singles. hardly any promotion), on the other hand they still let Erasure release new albums. They must be their best selling act by now, but have no. money spend on them. A very odd relationship

It is very frustrating, but it is all about demand. You need a lot of money to do a live video production, and more money to promote it, I guess the ratio of demand and investment is not there.
I'd rather have them use the money they spend on remixes (which are pretty bad), videos, etc, and invest it in working on an album with a great producer, like Stuart Price, Brian Eno, Jack Antonoff (which already has a connection with Vince).

Pretty sure Vince (or even Andy) are on record not being a fan of music videos.

Really? I think a bigger record company might have dropped support entirely a few years ago. That judgement has too much emotion tied to it.

Remember, the band is on record saying they don't like doing videos. Mainly Vince, but it's not something they want to do nor feel the need to do them. A few hardcore fans might want them, but it's also a very small number. A few vocal fans doesn't make 100,000's of customers.

I do agree it's a shame they haven't recorded a live DVD, especially for O2 show, but like others have said, there's a huge financial difference between recording audio and video.

I just don’t agree that the demand, or budget, just isn’t there. If OMD, who I would argue are not as popular now as Erasure, can squeeze out DVD after DVD of their live shows, so can Erasure. OMD’s latest DVD has not much new or out of the ordinary, but got a DVD release. Erasure go on a new tour with new material and setlist, and we get nothing.

Again, they are asking 73USD for the privilege of listening to 2 back to back shows (which will likely be mostly the same) on 4CDs, which imo is just another slap in the face. It reeks of complete apathy and minimal effort. I won’t be supporting it.

I did say that they still release new Erasure albums, but you chose to ignore that

I wouldn’t be surprised if the OMD guys put their own money into the DVD releases and Vince and Andy might not be willing to do that. Just conjecture. x

I want to mention that I did come across as negative, and that was not my overall intent. I will be buying the 2CD version - after all, I do want to at least hear this show! I see Push Me Shove Me on the setlist, and it's a no-brainer. I love that song! And I just love to hear them live. So, I am overall positive about the show and sadly, I won't get to see them in Texas this time :(

That said, I would also pay $73 for a nice collectable package of the tour if they would swap out a Blu-ray for the 4CDs, or fine, even a DVD. We know that Live Here Now is well-versed in doing this by now. They are already set up at the O2 venue. They almost certainly even recorded those 2 shows on video! If they didn't film it, they (Erasure/BMG/someone) consciously chose not to... and that's the part that sucks.
