Matthias Line Thru E4M Exclusive first review

Post by Pughie »

Ok just having a cheeky review of the 2nd installment in the 'Line' series by Matthias this is 'Line Thru'..... where do i begin....

Line Thru-Matthias

OUT TOMORROW 23rd February

1.Glasgow Sunrise-
The sound of synthesized Bagpipes,i know stay with me its worth it,after just over a minute the bleeps start building up the backing its definately a slow burner after 2mins the bassline starts up then POW the drums kick in and we are off, play it 'Thru' headphones its stunning the synth riff then more snares it just builds and builds, the is the opener of all openers this just takes you away to the land of Matthias and your not getting off until he reaches synth heaven.

2.Transitory-
This is more Yazoo than Yazoo!,this wouldn't sound out of place as the b-side to Nobody's Diary. Need i say more?

3.The Winner Takes It All (featuring Karen Lee Batten)-
Its ABBA,so you know the tracks a winner before you hear it. Karen does a great vocal on this lead single from Line Thru, over a nice modern sounding backing by Matthias, the layers working beautifully but still retaining the original sound of the classic. This fits in well with tradition of classic ABBA covers by Blancmange and of course Erasure.

4.ARP Song-
I can only say this reminds me of Warwick Davis ....... its criminally short!!,i will say its probably like Saffron-worth it weight in gold.

5.Fresh-
This reminds me of Erasure's 'Home' its a feel good, bouncy happy track, you'll just listen and instantly feel uplifted.

6.Heartfelt-
I feel that Fresh the previous track would've made a great album closer, but then this comes along and makes you pine for Line Out!,i love the lead synth line sound in this but also layers of bleeps to keep all Vince Clarke fans happy.

What a release!,if you bought /streamed/ downloaded Line In you will absolutely love this follow up,even more tunes, more synth, more joy. What you waiting for get it!.....NOW.

If you want more Matthias, then try out the single The Winner Takes It All (feat Keren Lee batten)

1.The Winner Takes it All.

2.Passing Trains-
A foot tapping soundtrack to a journey on rails,it drives along very nicely,a nice piano section in the middle.

3.IMPulsive-
A piano driven song this one, well for the first 30 seconds!, then the synths take over some nice synth lines,a brilliant lead synth sound, and that bassline!,the secondary synth riff where did that come from?,this just builds and builds and the piano returns, this should be on the album its too good to be left as a b-side.

Im sat here like a loon nodding my head away to this amazing set of releases, this is going into the car as a CD that i'm certain it needs to be played loud, and it will be,thats once i can get away from the shackles of these headphones!

Matthias without doubt you my friend are a synth genius!
