In the normal way of things I would tell you about this one next week, but as I'm away and there won't be a newsletter I wanted to follow up last week's mention of the forthcoming Vince Clarke Remix of The Hidden Cameras' 'Undertow' with a heads up that Vince's remix will be released digitally next Friday (20th June) and then in a limited-edition 12" vinyl edition the following week (4th July). The Hidden Cameras will be bringing you all that information closer to both of those dates, and you can look out for updates on their website here, and via their social media channels, which you can find linked from the website. Look out for those updates while I'm away, but I have to say that Vince's remix is an absolute corker!

VINCE CLARKE: LISTEN TO 'A MOMENT LONGER (VINCE CLARKE REMIX)' FROM JAMES YORKSTON FEATURING THE CARDIGANS' NINA PERSSON
You might remember that Vince remixed 'Shallow' for James Yorkston back in 2019, and James was so delighted with that remix that he asked Vince to get involved with his latest album project 'Songs for Nina and Johanna', a collaborative project with Johanna Söderberg of First Aid Kit and Nina Persson of The Cardigans. Vince chose the track 'A Moment Longer', which features's Nina Persson, to remix and I am very happy to tell you that it is now out digitally for your listening pleasure. You can watch a visualiser video for the remix here, and the track is available to stream or download right now from all good digital music platforms, a few of which are listed here. It's another cracker of a remix, enjoy...

Due on Friday 26 April, A Shared Sense Of Purpose is the first track on the album, and the single will be available in 7″ and 12″ formats. Both formats will include an exclusive remix from the Godfather of New Town Synth, Mr Vince Clarke. (If you haven’t already bought Songs Of Silence you really should!)

The 7″ single will contain the tracks A Shared Sense Of Purpose (single edit) and A Shared Sense Of Purpose (Vince Clarke remix). The 7″ will sold on a purple and cream vortex swirl vinyl.

The 12″ single will have A Shared Sense Of Purpose (album version), A Shared Sense Of Purpose (Vince Clarke remix) and two exclusive tracks; Oakwood and A Shared Sense Of Purpose (1973 version). The 12″ will come on baby pink vinyl.

Apparently there isn’t a pre-order link,just the release date on Bandcamp,it seems if you want one of the physical copies you have to order from a record store,but no other details are forthcoming just yet,and this info is from the bands FaceBook page.

NEW ALBUM COMING 10 OCTOBER 2025

The new Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan album Public Works and Utilities will be released on Friday 10 October 2025 at 8am via Castles In Space records.

It will be released on streaming, digital, vinyl and CD. The vinyl comes in one colour option - half solid black and half transparent red.

The album will be available on Bandcamp from 8am on Friday 10 October 2025. There will not be any preorders available via Bandcamp. Preorders may be possible via independent record stores, where it will also be available.

Also released at the same time, Appendix I collects three Warrington-Runcorn EPs onto CD for the first time. The disc will comprise Building A New Town, A Shared Sense Of Purpose and Overspill Estates.



A Shared Sense Of Purpose was the leading single from the Your Community Hub album, and released in both 7” and 12” versions. This CD takes the single edit from the 7”, and adds the bonus tracks from the 12” – including a remix from the legendary Vince Clarke, and a another guitar-led folk remix of the title track.

You may remember me telling you about this remix a couple of months ago, but in case it's not ringing any bells for you, let me remind you that back in July Vince did a great remix of a track called 'Undertow' by an artist called The Hidden Cameras. The remix came out digitally (and you should be able to find it on the streaming or download platform of your choice) and on a limited 12"-vinyl but it hasn't been available on CD until now. Thanks to Joel from The Hidden Cameras for letting me know that 'Undertow (Vince Clarke Remix)' is now available as a bonus track on the CD version of their brand new album 'Bronto' which was released on Friday. More about 'Bronto' here, and if you're a fan of The Hidden Cameras then you may want to know that they are doing an instore at London's Rough Trade East tonight (Monday) at 7pm.

You may recognise the name Alka, because two Alka albums - ‘The Colour Of Terrible Crystal’ and ‘Regarding The Auguries’ - were released on Vince Clarke's VeryRecords label back in the day. VeryRecords is currently on hiatus, but that hasn't stopped Alka from creating new music, and his new album, ‘The Magnitude Weighs Heavy’, has just been released by the Mortality Tables label, and you can find out more about the release on their Bandcamp page. In the meantime Vince has done a new mix of the track 'Soliloquy' from ‘The Magnitude Weighs Heavy’ album, and has also created a video to accompany it. You can watch the video, and listen to the mix, on YouTube below. alka - gravity : released April 24 2026

‘gravity’ is a compilation of remixes of tracks taken from ‘the magnitude weighs heavy’, the 2025 album from Philadelphia-area producer alka.

Revealing new facets and pathways in the original tracks, the collection features mixes from alka collaborator Vince Clarke, Scanner, Veryan, Stubbleman (Pascal Gabriel), Gareth Jones, Simon Fisher Turner and others.

‘gravity’ also features remixes of ‘scrapple’ from alka’s 2020 album for Vince Clarke’s VeryRecords, ‘regarding the auguries’. The collection is completed by a 2018 live version of ‘over the hills and vales + we are free forms’ and a remix of ‘truncate’, both of which originally appeared on the VeryRecords album ‘the colour of terrible crystal’ (2017).

‘gravity’ will be released April 24 on 13-track limited edition CD and unlimited, expanded digital edition featuring an additional remix from Scanner, the full Simon Fisher Turner mix of ‘antiquity broke’ and a rare track, ‘multiple’.
