One of the elements of December 2023’s rapturously received deluxe 6CD box set of Soft Cell’s stone cold 1981 electro pop classic, ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret’, was the inclusion of the entire original album presented as extended 12” versions. Now released on vinyl for Record Store Day 2024, ‘Non-Stop Extended…’ features contemporary full-length versions of the tracks, many of which have never been on vinyl before. The debut album from Marc Almond and Dave Ball AKA Soft is truly an icon of electronic music. Not only did ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret’ introduce the world to classic singles ‘Tainted Love’ (one of the biggest global hits of all time) ‘Bedsitter’ and ‘Say Hello Wave Goodbye’, it also shocked and delighted in equal measure with a 10-track song cycle straight outta the seedier, sleazier, darker side of life. ‘Sex Dwarf’, ‘Frustration’, ‘My Secret Life’, ‘Seedy Films’… four decades on, it still has the power to thrill, shock and swoon. Created by Soft Cell’s Dave Ball using only the original studio parts (they’re not remixes, they’re extendeds!), highlights include 2021’s ‘Tainted Love’ anniversary vinyl 10” rework plus new and unreleased 2023 box set versions of ‘Seedy Films’, ‘Sex Dwarf’, and ‘Entertain Me’. ‘Bedsitter’ is represented in its original 12” extended version as all concerned agreed it just could not be improved upon! Also included are a new rework of the band’s first single for Phonogram, ‘A Man Can Get Lost’ and new previously unreleased remixes of its flip, ‘Memorabilia’, by The Hacker and Daniel Miller.

We are delighted to announce that for Record Store Day 2024 Soft Cell will be releasing 'Non-Stop Extended Cabaret', a double-vinyl album release featuring extended mixes of each of the tracks from 'Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret' including a new rework of 'A Man Can Get Lost' and new remixes of 'Memorabilia' from The Hacker and Daniel Miller.

TRACKLISTING
A - Frustration (2023 Extended Version) / Tainted Love (Dave Ball 2021 Extended Mix) / Seedy Films (2023 Extended Version). B - Youth (Dave Ball 2018 'Wasted On The Young' Mix) / Sex Dwarf (2023 Extended Version) / Entertain Me (2023 Extended Version) / Chips On My Shoulder (2018 Extended Mix). C - Bedsitter (1981 Extended Version) / Secret Life (2018 Extended Version) / Say Hello, Wave Goodbye (2018 Dave Ball Lateral Mix). D - A Man Could Get Lost (2023 Extended Version) / Memorabilia (Daniel Miller 2023 Remix) / Memorabilia (The Hacker 2023 Remix).

Soft Cell - Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing 2025 - (2CD Book Format Album) + 4 Postcard Set

Soft Cell announce reissue of their classic 1982 remix album ‘Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing’ on the 20th June 2025 via Universal Music.
The reissued double album also features remixes from Erasure, The Hacker, Jon Pleased Wimmin, Daniel Miller and Hi-Fi Sean.
Soft Cell will be touring throughout 2025, including a full US tour with Simple Minds in May, and a headline show at Rewind Festival in August.
Synth pop pioneers Soft Cell will reissue their classic remix album ‘Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing’ on the 20th June 2025 via Universal Music. The 1982 original, inspiring generations of clubbers, DJs and remixers the world over, is fully remastered and bolstered by the inclusion of extended versions of its two hit singles, the smouldering melodrama of ‘Torch’, which famously just missed becoming Soft Cell’s second Number One hit by being kept off the top spot by Adam Ant, plus the top three hit ‘What!’, a cover of Melinda Marx’s 1965 Northern Soul heartache anthem. All is brought bang up to date with a second disc of remixes including Erasure, The Hacker, Jon Pleased Wimmin, Daniel Miller and Hi-Fi Sean, alongside highlights from 2007’s long-deleted ‘Heat – The Remixes’.
Soft Cell, aka singer, frontman and LGBTQ icon Marc Almond and multi-instrumentalist and producer Dave Ball, made their name in the clubs of Leeds, London, New York and Berlin before pop stardom hit with their groundbreaking, subversive performance of ‘Tainted Love’ on Top of the Pops in 1981. A rework of key moments from the electronic duo’s seminal debut album ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret’, alongside a couple of unreleased tracks, ‘Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing’ is hailed as one of the very first remix albums, and reached number 6 in the UK album charts in June 1982. It was closely followed by The Human League – temporarily renamed as The League Unlimited Orchestra – releasing their own extended rework of 1981’s electro pop classic ‘Dare’ in ‘Love and Dancing’.
‘Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing’ features six dancefloor-slaying tracks, including, in addition to aforementioned singles, an extended version of ‘Memorabilia’ that transformed the original into a 3am proto-house banger. The reissued ‘Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing’ channels the neon glamour and grit of Danceteria, Batcave, The Camden Palace and Studio 54 and still sounds fresh, menacing and ready to throw shapes in 2025.
Since their reunion and London o2 sell-out in 2018, Soft Cell have made a steady return to prominence and continue to shake things up in their ever provocative, uncompromising way. 2022’s new Top 10 album ‘Happiness Not Included’ followed in the footsteps of the feted ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret’ 40th anniversary boxset and tour, featuring a chart-topping collaboration with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe of Pet Shop Boys in ‘Purple Zone’ as well as collaboration with experimental queer artist CHRISTEENE. Most recently, Soft Cell toured Australia with Soft Cell for the first time ever, and touring the States extensively in May and June with Simple Minds. They also headline the Rewind festival at Henley-on-Thames on 16th August, their only UK show of 2025.
Marc and Dave are currently in the studio, recording their sixth – and final – studio album. Set to arrive in early 2026, watch this space for more info.
Includes an exclusive 4 postcard set. Images to follow.
"Soft Cell - Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing 2025" is out Friday, 20th June 2025 and available for pre-order now.
NB: All products ordered with a pre-order will be dispatched together close to the latest pre-order release date. If you want earlier dispatched for another product then please place separate order(s).

Soft Cell @marcalmondofficial and @daveballelectro have this week signed a new worldwide recording deal for their sixth studio album, Danceteria, which will be released via Republic of Music in spring 2026.

Named after the infamous New York nightclub which played host to Soft Cell’s Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret US launch party, the club became renowned as the centre of new wave music in early 80s New York, frequented by many musicians and artists who became famous during the decade, including Marc Almond and Dave Ball.

Danceteria is the follow up to 2021’s acclaimed ‘*Happiness not included’ album, which reached Number 7 in the UK charts, and features the hit single ‘Purple Zone’ with Pet Shop Boys.

Marc Almond comments: “I have loved working on this album. Dave’s music has once again inspired me to write a set of lyrics that this time reflect a time in my life in New York in the early 80s, at a particular creative and pivotal time of changes in my personal life and the city itself. Some of the songs are very personal. Soft Cell have always had a strong connection to New York, recording our first three albums there, and taking inspiration from its’ underground and culture, my Soft Cell lyrics have often looked at America through British eyes”.

Dave Ball comments: “I’m very excited about the new Soft Cell album – the first thing to be created in my new studio in London. With Marc’s vocals recorded across the river in Soho, it’s inspired by, and tells the tales of, our London and New York experiences in the early 80s”.

After spending 2025 touring the US and Australia, Soft Cell perform their only UK show, headlining the Rewind Festival in Oxfordshire on 16th August.

Marc and Dave promise that “2026 will be a Soft Cell year”. Watch this space…

We are very pleased to officially announce (finally!) our expanded reissue of Soft Cell’s 1983 classic album 'The Art of Falling Apart', which will be released on 31st October via Universal Music.

The album will be available as a 6-CD boxset, a double vinyl LP, and as a 2-CD hardback book edition, and all the details of those formats - as well as some money-saving bundles - and of the release in general are in the newsletter below.

Lots of other news in the pipeline, keep watching this space, but we think this is enough excitement for one day.

Thank you for all your support.

MARC, DAVE & EVERYONE AT SOFT CELL HQ

NEW! The Art of Falling Apart : 2025 6CD Box Set + Exclusive 2 Coaster Set + Exclusive 4 Cover Art Prints PRE-ORDER

Electronic music pioneers Soft Cell announce a super deluxe reissue of their classic 1983 album ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ on the 31st October 2025 via Universal Music. Soft Cell’s – aka singer and frontman Marc Almond and multi-instrumentalist and producer Dave Ball – second album is freshly remastered by Barry Grint from the original tapes and shows off the feted duo’s gothic take on pop music in all its full, darkly textured glory. Following directly on from 1982’s seminal one-of-the-first remix albums ‘Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing’, ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ reached No. 5 on the UK charts. As befits an album celebrating difference and choosing art over the glitzy 80s pop dream, ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ gloriously twists and turns between anger, frustration and destruction to beauty, reflection and unity. Part of the emerging gothic movement of the early 1980s, the album spans the epic, spiralling intensity of the title track and the terrifyingly great Romero-inspired synth stabs of ‘Martin’ to the uplifting anthem of ‘Where The Heart Is’, epic bittersweet ballad ‘Loving You Hating Me’ and the poignant single ‘Numbers’.

‘The Art of Falling Apart’ burst out of a period of pressure from then-label Phonogram to follow the rapid pop success of 1981 debut ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret’ and its chart-topping singles ‘Tainted Love’, ‘What’, ‘Bedsitter’ and ‘Say Hello Wave Goodbye’. The reality of international pop stardom for two art students from Northern England was unwelcome and, frankly, uncomfortable. ‘We had an indie mentality,’ explains Dave. ‘We got together at the tail-end of punk. I was originally just making music for Marc to do some performance art. He had heard my weird noises and bleeps coming out of the college music room and popped in. I did some music for him, and he then asked me what else I had. So I played him these odd, mutant pop tunes I’d been writing, and he asked if he could sing on them. I’d tried doing the vocals myself, but I’m not a singer. Marc sang them and, almost by accident, we found ourselves as a duo. It spiralled into Soft Cell from there.’

Marc continues: ‘Our attitude at the time of ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ might have alienated some of our younger and more middle-of-the-road fans, but we were being honest with ourselves. Dave was listening to lots of new music. He was revisiting his soundtrack influences and electronic roots. I’d been going to The Batcave, the club in Soho, and was hanging out with Nick Cave and Siouxsie Sioux. I’d sung on a Psychic TV album and performed live in the collaborative band The Immaculate Consumptive with Nick Cave, Lydia Lunch and Clint Ruin. I was an art-school punk who enjoyed experimentation and confrontation, and all of that came to the fore on this record.’

Today, ‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ is expanded in a super deluxe edition over six discs, following in the footsteps of the hugely successful ‘Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret’ 40th anniversary boxset in 2023. All is housed in a lavish 10”x 10” package, featuring the extended album, plus bonus 12” tracks, B-sides, rarities, remixes, instrumentals/dubs, brand new remixes and a full disc of demos as well as audio from live tv appearances from the time. The super deluxe edition also includes a 60-page hardback book, new notes from esteemed journalist Adrian Thrills and images from long term Soft Cell collaborator, photographer Peter Ashworth. All making this a must have for die-hard Soft Cell fans and 80s alternative music afficionados alike.

‘The Art Of Falling Apart’ will also be available as double LP and double CD packages, featuring highlights from the 6CD box with the LP pressed on colour vinyl.
