Time (Hearts Full of Love) is by far the obvious standout (IMO) and the others are good but one can understand why they didn’t make the original album. 😎

Ok so Neon is the 10th element… Is the number 5 on the EP cover because there are 5 tracks and it’s an homage to the 10?? 😎

One word review - Mellow 8-)

Slightly longer review - Three listens in and initial impression is a welcome and fine collection of Erasure 'B-side-esque Growers'.

And Just for fun, as the times are dark - In order of initial 'growth' (excluding Secrets);

Same Game
Time (Hearts Full Of Love)
Leaving
Come on Baby
Uttering Rubbish and Associating Words.......

Aside from Time and Secrets, the other 3 sound unfinished or like they are polished sketches. The melodies/progressions don't really resolve nicely and just kind of wander around. This could have easily been called "The Neon Sessions: unreleased demos"

I am quite happy with this release, it is not one for the masses, but I like Erasure experimental stuff, we would have never had Ghost and Truly….. without that. They sound like B sides and I was always a fan of those.

Well said! x

Although “Time (HFOL)” does sound like a polished single IMO.

Same Game

I was so defeated cause the things you told me were
I was so defeated cause the things that you told me were lies
Never to be repeated were the things that you promised me
Only to be heeded as I walked into your garden of lies

Did I do something wrong
Stringing me along for someone at your side

Go ahead enjoy yourself as if I don’t exist
There’s no need to satisfy fall blindly for a kiss tonight
Tonight

You tore me inside out
You turned me inside out
I will tear down the shrine (tear down the shrine)

It was never easy when you simply passed me by
You were so conceited when you simply passed me by
Now tell me why

I was so defeated cause the things that you told me were
I was so defeated cause the things that you told me were lies

Did I do something wrong
Stringing me along for someone at your side

Go ahead enjoy yourself as if I don’t exist
There’s no need to satisfy fall blindly for a kiss tonight
Go ahead enjoy yourself as if I don’t exist
I’m tired of your promises fall blindly for a kiss tonight
Tonight

I'm sure I can't be the first to think Same Game was cut from The Neon because Vince realized he was channeling Will Gregory. ;)

Overall, while some say they sound "unfinished", I don't think any of these are so out of place on the album proper to detract from it, and, in my opinion, a couple probably ought to have been included.

In the end, I'm glad we got it, and hope to see some remixes of these sooner rather than later.
