I just hope they take their time and not rush it. And I agree they should collaborate in-person more before saying all the songs are basically done. A 12 or 14 track album would be a nice change, perhaps with some interstitials or instrumentals. Just a bit more something than another cookie cutter 10-track album.
It's not even clear if 'finished' means Vince has written the words. Sounds like he might have. For The Neon Vince merely produced a number of synth melodies and Andy worked with those to write his lyrics. This time around they are going further by saying it's finished - both Vince & Andy. Andy then said he just needs to add his vocals. 'Finished' to me sounds like it's far more forward than The Neon was when Vince and Andy got together.
I guess with all Vince went through in 2022 he's had a lot of angst, maybe some anger and some creative spark to push into his writing.

The first thing I did was write bits of fifteen or twenty tracks for the next Erasure record, which I’m really excited about as well.

Having started work on the songs straight after the band’s UK tour in support of ‘The Neon’ (2020) – their highest-charting album in almost 30 years – he tells RETROPOP’s December issue: “When I came home after that UK tour, the first thing I did was I started working on the next Erasure album.
“So I formulated some backing tracks, thinking that that would be the next thing that we would do, and that’s now ready for Andy to come and put some magic on it.”
On when the tracks will be completed, he continues: “[Andy] mentioned he’ll be coming to New York in November, so that’s when we’ll start working together and solidifying those songs.
“Hopefully he’ll like what I’ve done because I’ve not sent any of the stuff to him yet!”

Also, isn't Vince in London in November?

Thanks Stephano for link.

Reunion rumors? when did they split? unless the rumors are of a reunion (the song) remix for the new album I'm a little lost.
Classic S*n "journalism" that.

I also wanted to manage some expectations. There are apparently rumours swirling around the internet that a new Erasure album is just around the corner but I'm afraid that isn't the case. Although Vince was working on musical ideas for the album last year, at this stage those pieces are just ideas rather than songs, which means that there's still a lot of work to be done as soon as the time is right for Andy and Vince to start working together again. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it seemed important to nip those rumours in the bud. And, just to say it again, that also means that there are currently no plans for an Erasure tour for the time being either.

I suppose it is a good plan not to bank on a new album or tour any time soon. As there was nothing new from Erasure I discovered some new music and rediscovered ones that I almost forgot about, which actually was quite nice. I am not bothered about seeing Andy performing Erasure songs without Vince, it just doesn't do it for me. As Erasure fans we are patient, there always have been longer gaps.
