ALSO: Maybe the Songs from the TV special 'Camp Christmas': 'Walking In A Winter Wonderland', 'Sleigh Ride', 'Take Me To The Emerald City', 'My Favourite Things' and 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas'

That's a curious one - is 'My Foolish Heart' actually Erasure? Although it appears on an Erasure CD, is it not really just Andy Bell doing a cover version? As I recall, Andy was a guest vocalist on a TV music event, amongst other guest vocalists on the night singing with the same band - Vince wasn't involved.

If we do count it, then there's also 'Dream A Little Dream' which was exclusively streamed on the EIS website over the Christmas period a number of years ago (which as far as I'm aware had no involvement from Vince either).

In short, 'My Foolish Heart' and 'Dream A Little Dream' maybe belong in an 'Andy Bell covering other artists' section - where we could also put the likes of his duet with KD Lang ('Enough is Enough')

Thanks for the new workload! :nyah:
I think I can accommodate that idea.

It’s a work in progress

My pleasure ;)

I've had a look - it's pretty impressive already!

Regarding the Camp Christmas stuff - I think I'd be inclined to include it here in the Erasure section though - Vince DOES do the musical synth arrangements, so it kind of IS Erasure, featuring duets with Melissa Etheridge.

The one with Pat Butcher (aka Pam St Clement) is a thing on it's own though...

There were of course fractions of other songs on some of their tours. During the Innocent tour on at least one occasion Andy sang a bit of Sag mit wo die Blumen sind by Marlene Dietrich, he also sang fractions of In the Navy and Yes Sir I Can Boogie and Er gehört zu mir on the Phantasmagorical Tour. And there was I Will Survive on some tours as a bridge in the song I love To Hate You for a while. I am sure there were plenty more

Edit: There's also 'My Foolish Heart' from the 'Buried Treasure' EIS CD.

I did think of this one,but I think that’s an Andy solo track, even though it was released on an Erasure release.

This is what I recall, too.

More background information:
(I forgot to add this one)

Too Darn Hot

Too Darn Hot
(on Red Hot And Blue, 1990, Chrysalis; CHR 1799/321799-1)

For the original (and best) Red Hot And Blue compilation the songs were taken from the catalogue of Cole Porter, with Erasure opting for "Too Darn Hot" from the musical "Kiss Me Kate".

Erasure surpassed themselves with this cover; from the sizzling opening to the climactic ending as Andy doubles up on answering backing vocals and adlibs over the main melody, this sounds like an Erasure single that never was.

In common with most of the other tracks on the album, this song also had a promotional video. Directed by Bonnie Lux, the video casts Andy as a newsreader linking items where Vince is interviewing members of the public.

The video also includes subtitles disclaiming the various myths that had built up around the AIDS virus, plus real news footage and captions criticising the policy of the US government. Because of the overtly political nature of this video, it was excised from the Red Hot And Blue TV show when it was screened in the US.

...including more ABBA! Andy's breif a cappella of 'Money Money Money' is already posted as part of the 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' video, but there's also a 'Mama Mia' snippet sung on the Phantasmagorical tour.

Also, 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' (which morphed into 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat' in later shows). And he briefly sings a bit of Madonna's 'Vogue' at some point.

@Pughie : You said you're ruling out anything from Snow Globe, but does that count 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen', which was originally on Crackers International? And does the version of 'Silent Night' on Snow Globe supersede the Yulesville version?

Magic Moments*
(on Lord of Illusions Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, 1995, The Fine Line / Mute; IONIC 13CD)

Erasure were asked by Clive Barker to contribute to the soundtrack to this gruesome and derivative horror movie and their cover version of "Magic Moments" (a Bacharach and David hit for Perry Como) works beautifully as a cheerful counterpoint to the brooding visuals.

The song, produced as a 'warm up' to the "Erasure" album, contains many wonderful touches; Andy's sinister reverberating vocals on the bridge, Vince's plinky-plonk accompaniment and Andy's 'dum-dum' bassline on the coda.

It is a perfectly concise and bright rendition and one of Erasure's most delightful cover versions.

The track was resurrected to appear as a bonus track on the US edition of "Cowboy" in 1997 and was almost released as a single in the autumn of that year, with Maverick producing a small number of 1-track promotional CD singles. "Magic Moments" would have been an odd choice of track to represent Erasure's musical oeuvre, but as an example of the breadth of their musical sensibilities it is unrivalled.
