Nice. I think I may have got mine from Evil James way back when. Anyhow, it still bugs me there was no USA CD3" or CD5". DM got that treatment in '88, but not Erasure. :x

I personally never cared for Justin Strauss's remixes of ALR. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but the bassline seems out of place or maybe even out of tune. But in general sense, they don't convey much of the fun or melody of the original song. In fact, until some of the more recent mixes came around, I never really was in love with any of the official ALR mixes. I feel like such an iconic track always deserved better, but maybe it's just a hard song to remix. Some songs seem to lend themselves easily to being remixed (say, Always or Enjoy the Silence), and others... not so much.

Hate to sound so negative though - there are definitely worse E mixes! Grats on your promo pickup daveckmo! Are you hunting for other US promos as well?

Well, I liked Saunder's and Legg's original mixes quite a bit, and they're plenty official. :)

Strauss did House mixes, even the 12" Vocal is house-y, and that's off-putting to some despite being more in keeping with the time. Remember, we dealt with many worse US label-commissioned remixes to follow that were also Erasure's square peg being forced into a round hole of what genre of music was popular in clubs. House was a bit more respectful with at least retaining vocals on the whole. Me, I like the 12" Vocal in that vein (even Strauss' others), but still have to say the UK mixes are far better as accentuating and exposing the greatness of the original production and arrangement of ALR.

I recently picked up some others:

- RTTS (Beatmasters Intergalactic)
- Star (Trafalmadore Edit)
- Follow Our Trax 4 (BS Saunders Remix/Edit)
- Get Out (WFS Edit)
- Flashback Four (LTHY Spanish)
- SWM (Radio Version and Guitar Mix Edit)
- Sometimes (7" Shiver Mix Edit)
- IMA (Crumbling Down Mix Edit and Stratomaster Mix Edit)

I was inspired by this Discogs list: https://www.discogs.com/lists/ERASURE-C ... ves/205273

Right on, that's about all the US promo exclusives that I can think of, at least until Nightbird. iirc, there were some US exclusive mixes of Breathe and then later Boy from Union Street. Just going from memory right now though!
