I have to say this is one of my favorite filmed concerts. I didn't get to see the actual tour first hand, but the version that's included on the Innocents 21 third disc is beautiful. I really like the live instruments and dancers, but don't fault V&A for abandoning that in later years.

I remember around that time I was half expecting a 4th single off The Innocents, then the BBC showed the programme. It was the first time I'd seen them as real humans rather than just tv shows. The Crackers International songs were just brilliant, I assumed it was another new album coming soon.

I did my own tour of friends living rooms with that video, and I always ''just so happened'' to have it in my bag, just in case....

Yea what a great show!  I had Innocents Tour and Tank, Swan, Balloon on VHS, converted to NTSC from PAL since they weren't available in the US.  It was great that it finally got a DVD release.

Absolutely love Emma and Val in that show, with their cute "heart" skirts!  I had such a crush on them   I'll forever love their huge smiles.

As far as I remember the live instruments were just part of a few concerts. The main Innocents concerts were just Vince, Andy, Val and Emma, if I remember correctly.

My memory is that it was just for two nights only at the Birmingham NEC Arena.

It was staged I think specifically for a BBC TV live show, documentary and subsequent video (although I suspect the video release was just
an additional benefit of doing the TV production).

That documentary is on the DVD, and on there they talk about the design of the stage and the lighting etc - and it's all about providing space for
the cameras and making sure it is well lit for the cameras. The additional instruments were part of making it all visually more spectacular. For the
cameras!

It's also the first time Erasure invested seriously in stage and costume designers.

Basically, the focus was on making a TV show/concert for video. Then invited an audience.

Couple more upbeat tracks from the Innocents would have been great but I suspect this was also down to the bbc team wanting mainly hits

When he introduces the band he first thanks someone called ''Bian Sure'' who the hell was that?

One of my favourite ever live Erasure performances. It absolutely blew me away seeing it performed live at the NEC. Oh, such sweet memories.........

Think it's "bien sûr" ("of course", in French).  I don't remember the context of when he says it, off hand, but I can hear him saying it in my mind.

^Many thanks, makes sense because nobody with a name remotely like that is credited, and he uses other French phrases in the show

That's had me wondering for 30yrs, and I ain't kidding.
