Sophie Ellis Bexter had a top ten album two years ago, she has recently had a top 20 album and been A listed on Radio 2, not bad for a support act

It was Top 5, actually! (think it went to #4). Ben was asking where is she now... She's doing just fine in the charts and on tour.

I'm surprised at so much of the negativity and pessimism here. I don't have to state the obvious which has been already stated by many... the exposure, the new audience, etc.  But also, I'd bet money that they will, indeed, do their own tour for the new album at some point. This special guest/opening slot for Robbie by no means REPLACES their own headlining tour. Why would you even think that?

Onward!

From Robbie's press conference-

Robbie told a London press conference: “I'm a big fan of Erasure, growing up and now, and they are perfect for my show. My favourite track of theirs is Give A Little Respect – no party is complete without it."

Absolute rubbish, erasure are not an obscure support act who nobody has ever heard of, they have a history and an impressive back catalogue
of hits,

It depends where you live: in lots of European countries (expected Germany and UK for sure) they're an 80's band with their last song is been Sometimes. If in Italy (for example) you asked to 100 people on street who Erasure are... nobody will know it or maybe 5 people, while it could be a good promotion way in the markets where they're already known. About SEB: considering that I'm her fan since the debut... well with the 2 last acoustic album her market is now more little only UK (tour in small venues) and Eastern Europe while before she was an European act.

I wonder if he likes one of my favourites: "It Doesn't Have To Be This Way".

No but he probably likes the track "it's not the way you lead me by the hand into the bedroom"

Have just received a tweet back from Very Records & Vince confirms the Erasure set will be approximately 45 minutes on the Robbie Williams tour.

Well I like that one too - I mean what true fan doesn't?

But personally I would say "We'll Be Together Again" is the song no party is complete without. That just HAS to be one of his favourites too don't you think?!

My favourites always been "What's a boy in love supposed to do" but jokes aside I think this will be good for Erasure they'll get the exposure and cash and that's never a bad thing. I can't see them becoming permanent supporting acts and like others have said PSB did fine after sup[porting take that. I won't be going to see Robbie just for Erasure but 45 mins is a decent set for anyone who is, I'm just glad Vince has confirmed there will be a proper Erasure tour as well.

I, too, would love to see something on the scale of Wild!, but when they had that chance before, they still did numerous dates at the same venue rather than one night at a particular arena.

If this tour raises their profile so that their solo tour does feature larger venues, then I'd feel it was worth it, but that poster still makes me feel sick to my stomach.

"An Erasure message board? What will they think of next?"

It does frustrate me to see the likes of human league playing the Sheffield arena and the Barclaycard arena hopefully this Robbie Williams thing will give erasure one last shot of the big time

According to Andy on twitter this is the only Erasure tour in 2017, theres no proper Erasure tour until 2018, what's going on?

That is the exact reason I was not happy about this support act thing. I will unfortunately give this one a miss, I really can't stand Robbie Williams, and it will only be a greatest hits set anyway whilst people are running around chatting and buying drinks waiting for Robbie Williams.
At this rate I will buy the next album second hand on eBay.
