Erasure-Always 30 Year Anthology

The Erasure4rum would like to share with you what we think as a band of such stature should be releasing as a 30 Years Anthology. As we believe a greatest hits or singles collection is not really the way to go,we've had Pop! 20,Hits! & Pop 40,Essential i think we can all agree was a bit of a stinker.

Anthology:A collection of works chosen by the compiler that maybe poems, short stories, plays or songs

Ive used a quite simple premise,30 Years of Erasure recordings to pick and choose from to compile the real essential collection. Taking the equation that we take a single,an album track & a b-side from each era of their career. To compile a 3CD set. The 3rd and final CD utilising some rarer, unique or un-usual recordings to fill in the gaps.
Trying not to duplicate songs where possible.
A new lead single would be needed to promote the collection,A Little Respect possibly being the main contender, but for me this is a no go as its already been re-issued as a charity single in the HMI Redux version, and more recently as the Hull Kingston Rovers Rugby Team single. Plus with its high profile from earlier this year with the YouTube Neil Francis news story we can't really be expected to buy it all over again,so the main choice for me would be 'Sometimes' the single that broke Erasure into the big time. A 30th Anniversary mix will close the 3CD set.

So here we have the Erasure4rum's 3CD Anthology tracklisting comprising 57 tracks covering 30 years of Erasure.
Compiled with a real love for the band and their legacy.

Even considering Andy's words in South America, my choice would be: CD1 Hits, C2 Violet Flame Live CD (In Boston?), CD3 new and unreleased remixes.
So in this way my tracklist for the 1CD would be:

1. Who Needs Love Like That
2. Oh L'Amour
3. Sometimes
4. The Circus
5. A Little Respect
6. Chains Of Love
7. Victim Of Love
8. Breath Of Life
9. Love To Hate You
10. Always
11. Fingers & Thumbs
12. In My Arms
13. Moon And The Sky
14. Make Me Smile
15. Breathe
16. I Could Fall In Love With You
17. Fill Us With Fire
18. Sacred

I actually like this as an anthology. What o don't want to see is 3 CDs of singles.
Singles/album tracks/b sides mix with a CD of unreleased would be great.

That looks like a cracking 3cd assortment to me.A bit of everything to suit everyone.I especially like the idea of a single,b side and album track...Very clever, and i think it definitely works !.

Love it, although I think it NEEDS to include "Loving Man", as that is one of their outstanding highlights of the past few years!

Great artwork as well!!

Looks like you hit the nail on the head there.

('Stop!' would have been another contender I think. Maybe next time...)

Curious... Of the three images that were used it was this one that I thought was most like something from an Erasure cover, being somewhat reminiscent of the 'Rock Me Gently' cover at least.

Today the EIS has revealed the artwork for 'The Very Best Of':

It's very similar isn't it?

I guess we can assume Stephano did the artwork for it then! Congrats to Stephano.

So... you "guessed" Sometimes would be the single?

And you posted the artwork before it was available?

What else do you know?

Everything lol

When I was sent a copy of the artwork this afternoon I was as shocked as everyone else,it's very similar how we got it so right is beyond me,but full credit to Stephano for the original artwork.
As for Sometimes,it was the first hit that started it all off.

But you did catch on to the idea behind Stephano's artwork it was based on the original themes to the Wonderland singles & Rock Me Gently.

Where Erasure4rum leads others follow.
