I can't believe Erasure are getting the 'Respect' they deserve, they have the soundtrack to the new 2013 Tesco 'turkey' TV advert

What a missed opportunity for you Make It Wonderful after making the turkey. Mute missed the boat again to market a new song. Still nice to see

A shame it is for Tesco, it devalues a great song.

Not at all.  This is a genius move by Mute/BMG and amazing publicity for Erasure.  Tesco is currently the second largest retailer in the world measured by profits, and the third largest measured by revenue.  It has 30% of the grocery market share in the UK.  We all buy food, there is nothing wrong with the song being utilized in commercials for a grocery retailer.  They have an enormous advertising budget and thus Erasure is getting TV time all day every day in the run up to Christmas - something that Mute could not possibly afford to do.

Tesco are huge in the U.K and its great Erasure has got some publicity. The John Lewis advert has shot Lily Allen's version of Somewhere Only We Know to number two. However, Tesco use a different song every week. They have done for months.

I am entitled to my own personal view.  And I am not too sure how playing A Little Respect on an advert is selling Snow Globe.
Anyway, I don't think Vince and Andy are extremely bothered about the charts. A Christmas album released before the rush might sell
lots of copies in the end, but might not chart high, as sales are spread. I don't think either of them is about to claim benefits, so all is good really.

it doesnt and wont directly. however it may increase the profile of the group and therefore indirectly effect results (may)

John Lewis advert is different as the song was recorded for this advert and it is played regulary at peak time. It not only sold that song but considerably rasied the profile of Lily Allen to coincided with the release of her first song in years (another release aside the JL song). good marketing all round

Vince Clarke compositions are being used to soundtrack two current TV adverts. TK Maxx have chosen to use an acoustic version of Yazoo’s ‘Only You’ performed by Tom Player on their advert ‘The Moment’, while Tesco have gone with Erasure’s ‘A Little Respect’ for their ‘Christmas Turkey’ advert…
