Hello fellow Erasure fans...

Have loved Andy and Vince since first listen when on Tour with Duran Duran in 1987.  Fortunately saw them on every tour since 1987 including 2 Christmas events in UK, and connecting with so many of you around the world.

@"Uncle Mike" - So glad I stumbled on the 4rum - thanks for all these years of sharing.

Vince has been a major musical force/inspiration - and Angelic Andy - what more can I say?   My 2 lil ones now request erasure tunes from memory.

Lots of love to you all,
Gino in SF

Ohh now worries, we're all friends here so no need to be shy. Post what you like and enjoy the music we all share with Erasure. If anything, get more of your friends to come and share the love, we need people like you

Hiya,

Names billy. Been a fan for a very long time. Have been on the various message boards for many years starting with Wonderland. I think that's what it was called. Live in NYC.

Have been fortunate to see Erasure 20+ times though I'm sure many of you are more faithful than me.

Thanks for hosting this message board Pughie. Really nice that we can converse about what we love...Erasure.

Hi Billy
You are correct, it was Wonderland TCP and before that it was called the VinceClarke mailing list, Wonderland even had some nice tshirts made up back then. Glad to see you over here. Saw Erasure manytimes over in NYC and went to all the cool record stores in The village looking for Erasure rarities

Cheers
Mike

MikeyC here from NYC! I was a card-carrying member of the EIS and the Wonderland and I Say mailing lists, along with the official forum from the week it started. ERASURE give me such pleasure and highs in life and it's always so exciting anticipating the new material. We have lots to look forward to. Enjoy, everybody!

Mike, I've done the same.  I was at Bleeker records and came across a bootleg of one of the NYC phantasmagorical entertainment shows.  It was great because if I remember correctly it had a live version of Joan on it.  One of my favs.  I subsequently lost it and was crushed.  Anyone else have it?  Looking to replace it and would settle for a copy rather than the original.

Hi Billy
I will look in my archives and see if I have this one. I also use to go to ReBel Rebel which the owner was a huge erasure fan. He would mention Andy would pop in while in the city. I also liked and hated Record Runner. They had a great selection of stuff but the owner was very snooty and rude. It was like you did him a favor when you came in. And god forbid you touch any records on the wall of fame, unless you were buying at his crazy prices. eBay brought him down to earth.

Very true Mikey. I think he lives somewhere in the area and pops in on a regular basis. Rebel has been around NYC fora long, long time and it's always a great place to get lost in.

Hi,

First saw Erasure way back when they were touring with the Wonderland album.  They played a small night club here in
Toronto called The Copa.  I've been a fan ever since that night and although I like some albums more than others, The Violet Flame has become an instant favorite!!!
Sadly, I only speak English and when I'm drinking I don't speak that very well either.
regards,

p.s I bought the Wonderland album on cd and had to have it replaced 3x because it skipped in exactly the same place on every copy...now that's a devoted fan.

Please let us know your name, not many go that far back to the Wonderland Tour or the BPM Tour in 1986. There were mastering issues with Wonderland so maybe that why it skips.

Welcome

Great Bob! By chance do you have any photos from that Toronto show. Not many photos from that era

Hi Mike,

I'm sorry to disappoint but I didn't even own a camera in those days.  It's a shame because the venue was practically empty.  I remember my friend and I walking around
freely while Erasure played.  There was no seating just the stage and a small number of people in the audience.  It occurred to me after my initial post that we had tickets to see Erasure at the Copa the previous year but the date was cancelled.  It may have been 87 when the concert was rebooked and we finally got to see them. Sadly, I don't remember much about the set list but I do recall Andy being incredibly open about his sexuality and I felt a sense of awe at his uninhibited nature.

Cool to hear Bob, Its always great to hear stories of those early shows. I only got to see them open up for Duran Duran in 87 here in the states and they were just getting a break into greatness

Hi!
I'm Duncan, from Boston, Lincs. ERASURE fan since '87 and  long time reader of forums and EIS subscriber (Remember getting those pre-release postcards through the door?! Before the internet kids!!), 1st show seen live on April 18th 1988, always remember that day as it was the release day of THE INNOCENTS and sat in quiet golden jubilation as i listened to it on my Sony Tape Walkman on the coach up to Leicester for the DeMontford Hall gig! Best ERASURE related buy was DINGER:AIR OF MYSTERY 7" from a tiny record shop in sunny Skegness for the princely sum of 20p!! Can you imagine my buzz finding that mixed in with all the 'dead' vinyl!? Greatest ERASURE day? Without doubt, the absolutely stupendous WILD PARTY at Milton Keynes Bowl - just an unbelievable, dreamlike day and evening, thousands upon thousands of fans (glowing in the dark if i remember rightly?!). The atmosphere just completely electric and so many memories that will last a lifetime. Awesome. Never met the boys but my biggest claim to fame was at Nottingham back in March '05 when, at the very end of the show, after the final encore track SOMETIMES, Andy passed the microphone down to me, for some totally unknown reason, in the front row where i managed to shout the rather underwhelming line "Well done man, Fantastic!" which is now embarrasingly immortalised on the Live Here Now CD which my kids still mercilessly rip me about to this day!
Feel so very lucky to have been a fan for so many splendid years now, just enjoyed yet another fantastic gig at Nottingham, a truly great new release in THE VIOLET FLAME and, like most ERASURE fans, are grateful to Vince and Andy for providing the perfect soundtrack for our lives!
VIVA ERASURE!

Guys, it's not funny to drive off without me. Seriously, it took me this long to find my way back. I seriously need a shave.

I'm Michael, and for those who don't remember me, I'm an Erasure and general synthpop fan since '87 (discovered Vince the same time I discovered girls), former mailing list member, and veteran of the great Erasure forum wars. I even changed sides during that time and was a double agent (triple, really) for a time. As such, I've been on the run from those seeking revenge for summary bannings and general grammar correction.

I'm happy to see so many familiar faces here. Hopefully, you'll get me all caught up on the drama I missed during this fragile peace.

Not living up to any rumors, I'm sad to say (someone said I won the lottery?!). Post phpBB Control Panel Stress Disorder is an affliction one must deal with day by day.

I'm still in NY and getting by in-between constant local Vince appearances (actually missed a few). It's awful to be me, I know.

Good to hear, I see you are still around the usual suspects lining up for shows in NYC. It's always an ole reunion of sorts. This Erasure cult following is now entering 30 years and we've had many come and go. but do they really ever leave!?!

This following has had long lasting friendships. Some scream, so have grammar or language issues but we're all a friendly bunch of stragglers here with A Little Respect

Hello,

I'm chubs from just outside Edinburgh, posted a few things already on the forum and also occasionally on the old eis one. Been a fan since 87, dabbled in 86 but got really hooked in 87 with victim of love single and circus album. What's followed is now 28 years of crazy, from sleeping on train station floors after milton keynes to gigs in a forest and seeing them on every tour since 88. Still going strong and if possible the love has grown stronger with VF, love this release, didn't think possible for erasure to produce feelings in me anymore but sacred reduced me to tears on first listen and that is why I love them.

That's awesome Chubs, find others in Edinburgh and bring them here. That place is a nutter for Erasure. Didn't know Scots could be so manic and passionate for Erasure. Sadly their New Years Day concerts was cancelled at some castle over there years back due to high winds.

Well good to see you here as well and don't be a stranger.

Oh no! Haha!

I was worried that it would time out (kind of like banking websites) and not let me attempt to login again!

I have definitely missed the streamlined communication/conversations.

Yes this password thing here is like Fort Knox, because we have very exclusive and confidential info floating about here. So we keep things on the downlow to verify who really gets in

In all seriousness, I had a few hiccups when registering. My chosen password wouldn't work after a few minutes, and when I used a temporary that was sent, and then reset it to a chosen one, I was back at square one. I had to use three browsers before it cleared. Finally I overcame the site rejection factor, and fully infected it with myself.

Well, let's be honest : 2/3 of the members of "my" FB group are from Belgium or other countries. (and I am also registered on all ERASURE dedicated Facebook groups)
The French-speaking rule is well observed though, as only a small amount of the members contribute.

Hey guys. My registration here was preceded by my creation of a Facebook profile for interacting with the Unofficial Erasure Club group there. In case anyone wondered where I went (again) by not seeing me on FB, well they are being very nasty regarding usernames once more. More hurdles to jump this time, and I'm on the fence as to whether it's worth it. Might be a few days until resolved...if at all.

Anyhow, just wanted to put that out somewhere in case I'm missed.

Hello fellow E fans! I'm Camron from Vancouver, Washington, USA
"Vancouver (not B.C.), Washington (not D.C.), Clark County (not Nevada) Near Portland, Or. (not Maine)"

I first took note of Erasure as a young teenager in 1988 when "Chains Of Love" stormed the pop radio airwaves in the U.S. By the following year I discovered remixes and imports... my world changed and I was hooked for life

Twenty years ago I was on the old Wonderland email list, but I never got on the forums that followed.

I met a special gal at a Portland club in 2000, and when we soon found out that we were both huge Erasure fans, we knew it was True Love.  An Erasure-themed wedding came along a few years later <3

Figuring that Erasure was unlikely to make it back to the US Pacific Northwest to tour, we flew together to London in 2003 to see Erasure play live... but that concert and a couple others near that date were cancelled due to Andy's pneumonia that February. We tried to make the best of the evening by seeing the live production of Mamma Mia! a few blocks away at the Prince Edward Theater. To our joy, Erasure eventually came back to the US... we've since seen them in California, Seattle, and their first Portland show in over 20 years in 2011.

My collection of Erasure commercial releases is "complete" with all of the main Albums, Singles, and Anthologies in my collection. Several years back I thought I collected pretty much every version and remix, until I discovered the web page for the Until the Twelfth of Never collection http://ergh.org/utton/
The CD collection itself was no longer available, but the listing of all the rare tracks and where they came from was mind-boggling. I've spent the last few years on Discogs.com marketplace tracking down Promos, unique foreign editions, and DJ-only Remix Service releases.... but I will just have to accept that my Erasure collection will pale in comparison to many of you completists here

I've spent the last couple years ripping my entire CD collection to high-quality lossless audio, and I plan to also do some audiophile quality turntable rips of any exclusive vinyl-only remixes in my collection that have yet to find their way to official CD. If any of you know where I can find the French Promo "Solsbury Hill" https://www.discogs.com/Erasure-Solsbury-Hill/release/9473422 or the Studio Recorded version of "Heart Of Glass" you'll be my best pal forever

Welcome to the forum you lucky dog. That never happens to me. She have a sister who's as much a fan?

You know, come to think of it, Mark erred by not including a dating subforum here. It would be the true eHarmony!

I met a big fan at the Irving Plaza fanclub event prior to the "Tiny Tour"-type show where we put labels on the bottles of bubbles and watched the soundcheck, etc. His name was Eugene. Friendly, great guy (and oh-so-swoon-worthy). Lost track of him after that but I frequently think "what could've been"...

I remember a Eugene as I was there that bitter cold winter day, but I can't remember what he looks like. I was blowing up balloons.

I called in sick to work that day!

Anyway, maybe we can temporarily turn Erasure4rum into the "FIND EUGENE FOR MIKEYC" forum for a bit...

I'm assuming this is where I say hello I'm a new member ??

I been lurking and reading here for a year now.

I was on the old forum but that was a long time back.

Been a massive fan since 'Sometimes' when I was 12.
Mates thought I was odd while I was an Erasure fan and a gangsta rap fan simutaneously when I grew up in the late 80s/early 90s. My tastes are mixed and bizarre anyway, as I been a DJ for 25yrs.

So glad to be part of the forum!

Hi all!

I'm Andrew. My Erasure story: I had the pleasure of meeting Vince and Andy before a Violet Flame gig. I told them up front, "I can't think of anything witty to say so I'm not saying anything."

They both seemed rather pleased about that.

I'm 1/2 of an electronic duo called Very Brave Men. Please check out our sounds (link in profile) and follow us on Twitter (@very_brave_men).

Cheers!

Still, my ego demands it.

I and Andrew seemed to have cornered the market on getting laughs out of Vince.
